For more than 100 years, the Álvarez Gómez brand has been synonymous with tradition, exclusivity, quality and its own style. The history of this brand began when three young people (Herminio Álvarez Gómez, Berlarmino Gómez and Emilio Vuelta Gómez) decided to leave León, their birthplace, and look for work and happiness in Madrid.
They started working in a pharmacy located on Calle Peligros in Madrid, and when the owner of the establishment decided to retire, they took the opportunity to take an important step in their future. In 1899, having established themselves in the profession of aroma traders, they opened a shop at Sevilijas st. 2, Madrid.
The store was opened already under the Alvarez Gómez brand. In its back room, gatherings were held with a pleasant and unique atmosphere, where the aromas of perfumery mingled with the aromas of tobacco and coffee. It was there in 1912. one of the attendees helped create a cologne formula of European origin whose essential components (lemon, bergamot, rosemary, geranium, etc.) could be obtained in better quality on Spanish soil.
The founders, accustomed since childhood to the pure scents of the countryside, flowers and plants, decided that their perfumery should be: clean, fresh and pure. in 1912 Álvarez Gómez Concentrated Cologne Water was started by hand in the basement of this first store.
It was a unique perfumery, high-class, although not elite, but the Art Deco design bottle was very familiar not only in many Spanish homes, but also in the best prestigious hotels and restaurants of the country.
Since the 1980s, several important milestones have been achieved: the construction of a factory where the production of perfumery is standardized, the creation of product distribution networks, etc. Álvarez Gómez Concentrated Cologne Water is currently known and appreciated worldwide.
Currently, the fourth generation is involved in the creation of perfumery, they are modern and determined to make the Álvarez Gómez brand a tradition of the new century.
